Office turned Entryway
My house is small. About 1,000 sqft, maybe 1,100…I’m really not sure. I’ve said it a million times and sometimes I feel like a broken record. But having a small house affects every decorating decision I make. I thought an entryway was out of the question. As you walk into our home, we had a desk right there. For years I thought this was the only option for the space. I started to think about how great it would be to have a bench for the boys to be able to sit and take their shoes off and on. The new year had just come and I was itching to change things up and I finally decided to give it a try. I am so happy that I did. By removing the desk, the entire space has really opened up and it doesn’t feel as crowded when you walk in the front door.
Here are a few pictures of what the space looked like before the transition.
And a year ago.
And here is what it looks like now after the transition. This bench was originally at my dining room table but I needed it for this space. My dad built this bench out of a twin headboard that I had found on a Facebook yard sale site. I think it’s the prettiest headboard I’ve seen and would love to find one like this in a queen size for our bedroom.
Here is my behind the scenes picture. My little guy, without fail, jumps in front of the camera every time it’s out.
And don’t you just love the detailing on my DIY antique grain sack pillow!?!?!
And here is a little extra perk. Who doesn’t need extra storage?!?
Adding an entryway has been helpful and has simplified our lives. I can only control so much living in this little space but when I find a solution to a problem, well, it makes me happy.
