Thrifty Thursday: $20 Bookcase
I’m bringing you another round of Thrifty Thursday because I can’t stop. And yes, I realize it’s Friday but I missed being able to post this yesterday. Life happens! Finding inexpensive furniture and giving it new life is like breathing. I can’t stop and I don’t want to. I love this bookcase. I found it at an estate sale for $20. I don’t know about you, but when I go to an estate sale I have a difficult time finding anything for $20, let alone a good piece of furniture. I brought this home and immediately put it in my boys’ room. I couldn’t stand their old bookcase so I thought I’d give this a try. It was way to small and to be honest, kinda girly. I found a different bookcase for them which you can see HERE and decided to paint this one and put it in my booth.
Here is what it looked like when I got it. It was green and in great shape. The green color didn’t actually bother me but I didn’t think it would look well in our booth.
The paint color of choice was Annie Sloan Pure White. And let me tell you, Pure White can be a tricky color to paint with, but that’s a topic for another time. I dark waxed it to give it some character. I couldn’t distress it becuase I didn’t want the previous green coming through.
Isn’t it beautiful!?! I think it looks perfect with all of my blue glass and vintage seltzer bottles. This bookcase has already made it’s way to it’s new home. I’m a little sad I didn’t keep it but I didn’t have any room for it. *insert tear here*
And isn’t this chair kind of amazing?!?! It’s one of my favorite projects. HERE is the link to see the before and after.
On lots of my blog post I like to slip in a behind the scenes picture. No kiddos in this one but you do get a peak at the mess we live in when mommy is taking pictures.
Thanks for reading and visiting my blog. I hope I can encourage you to search out those deals so that you can decorate your home, no matter your budget.
