Vintage Dresser Makeover

I have the pleasure of working with the Close5 App to bring you this vintage dresser makeover.  I found this dresser a few weeks ago while using the app. If you haven’t done so already, you can download the app HERE. It’s a great way to buy and sell your used items with ease.

I found this dresser for $90. I offered $60 in the private “make an offer” feature and the seller accepted. After getting it home, I was pleasantly surprised by it’s condition, considering the age.  The seller told me it was her boys’ dresser when they were little. I love knowing a little bit of history of the pieces I find.  Since I have little boys, it was easy for me to picture this sweet dresser in the midst of a rambunctious duo jumping off their beds, playing Legos and doing all sorts of little boy things.

After staring at it for about 5 seconds, I knew exactly how I wanted it to look. My paint color of choice, Sweet Pickins Milk Paint – Creamy. Creamy is the perfect off white color. It distresses like a dream and gave me some beautiful chippyness.

Before I show you some after pictures, let me tell you what I had to do to this dresser to get it ready.  There were lots of scrapes and scratches.  I had to sand some areas but nothing major. I also had to replace a handle pull. Luckily, there is a hardware guy at our local antique faire every month. After painting the dresser, to finish it off, I added pretty drawer liner which always adds a special touch.

And here it is. It’s simple and elegant. Another win for a Close5 makeover!
