My new cabinet and the new way to buy and sell furniture.
I’m excited to partner with Close5 and introduce you to a new way to buy and sell furniture…and other stuff.
This thing was a beastly project. It may not look like it, but a lot of time went into this piece. It probably didn’t help that I changed my mind on the color after it was completely painted. Oh well…it wouldn’t be a true DIY without all of the extra challenges, right?!?! I’ll have a more in depth post about what we did to this piece sometime next week.
I found this piece on a new app called Close5. If you know me at all, you know that my number one DIY passion is painting furniture. I just love it. It makes my heart happy. Since I love to paint furniture, I must constantly be on the hunt for “new” pieces to paint. In comes the Close5 app. Have you ever heard of it? It’s similar to Craigslist in the sense that you can buy and sell your unwanted items but it’s different in that it’s very user friendly. You can visit Close5 HERE to find out more info.
I started searching the Close5 app for a piece I could paint, but I passed over this one because it had no character. Well, after looking at if for a day or so, I started to see some potential. I felt like I could really transform this thing. Would it be a challenge? YES! But I love a good challenge. Below is the listing picture. It was listed for $60, but of course I got it for $40. Remember to barter! The listing picture cut off the top of the piece so I had no idea what the top looked like before my husband brought it home. But I was ready for whatever this piece had to throw at me….which was a lot.
My two favorite things about the Close5 app were that you can easily search certain areas and distances from your location…I mean EASILY!!! And did I mention that this was being sold under two minutes away from my house…not even…maybe one minute. I was surprised we didn’t know the seller since they were basically our neighbor. How awesome is that!?! AND the other thing I liked about the app was that the buyer and seller communicate directly in the app. No emails or texting (until you’re ready to get/give the address). I feel like this adds a sense of security that other apps lack. And did I mention EVERYONE can see your conversation on the post?!? I just love that feature. I encourage you to download the Close5 app HERE and check it out for yourself. Let me know what you think.
And remember you did it yourself and it will probably show. Embrace the DIY life.
