Shop the House Design Challenge

Shop the House Design Challenge

The New Year often brings a longing for refreshing, whether it’s our body, mind, or even our homes.  When it comes to my home decor, I love starting fresh.  De-cluttering.  Taking down the old. Slowly putting up the old in a new way.  See what I did there?  I didn’t say “putting up the new.”  I love to decorate but have a very limited budget.  So limited in fact, that often there is no budget at all.  So when the urge to redecorate and start fresh comes pouring in, which it often does, I have to be resourceful.  I have to shop my house!  Take down the old and put up the old in a new way.

I’ve teamed up with some amazing bloggers to encourage each other and YOU to get creative when decorating our homes: to fight the urge to go shopping, at least for today, to use the things we already have and to display them in a new and refreshing way.  Each blogger has selected one area of their home that they will use throughout the entire challenge. For the next 4 months, we will completely restyle the space we’ve selected, using only the items we already own. We can DIY or transform a piece, but only if we had the items on hand for the project. Sounds fun to me!  We would absolutely love it if you joined the challenge.

I chose my mantel/fireplace area for the challenge.  After I took down all of my Christmas decor, I didn’t add anything to this area other than the window.  I was waiting for inspiration to come.  It’s January 19th and it’s still bare.  This challenge will be a wonderful way to kick myself into finding some inspiration.  Time for me to head out to the shed and go shopping!  How about you?  Do you want to join us in this challenge?

And remember, you did it yourself and it will probably show. Embrace the DIY life.
